Nice find! I tested it on Google Chrome 90 and it worked there too. It seems like it’s a Chromium feature so it will be available on all Chromium based browsers. The only caveat is that it can’t be turned on permanently. I have to use the same sequence as you mentioned every time I want to check the Core Web Vitals of any website. The advantage of an extension is that I can see the scores on screen without touching anything. I’ll stick to my Core Web Vitals extension for the moment.

If you are a website owner or a developer, you can check out the core web vitals for any site without installing any plugin or addon in Edge.

To activate the overlay, press F12 to open developer tools panel. Then press Ctrl + Shift + P. This will open the search dialog. Search for *core web* and enable the option.

Now you will see the overlay on each website loaded in that tab. You need to make sure that the developer tools window remains open otherwise the overlay will go away.
