Microsoft has recently released a new update KB4580364 for Windows 10 v20H2 Insiders on the Release Preview channel, which was later made available on the Beta channel. Apart from a single feature update, the rest of this update is focused on fixing and improving the bugs from the previous releases.

Installing the update KB4580364 will change your current Windows 10 20H2 build to 19042.608.

Meet Now in Taskbar

Previously, Microsoft had introduced Meet Now on Skype for the Taskbar in Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 20221 when released in the Dev channel. However, this feature has now made its way to Windows 10 and is introduced with this new update.

Users can now make or join calls with two clicks from their mouse, directly from the Taskbar, without any required downloads!

Other fixes and improvements in KB4580364

Here is a list of fixes and improvements in this new update, making the Windows experience better and safer:

  • An issue with the Group Policy Preferences to configure Internet Explorer’s homepage has been addressed.
  • Administrators have been given the ability to use the Group Policy for “Save target as” for other Microsoft Edge IE mode users.
  • A problem with untrusted URLs in Internet Explorer 11 has been addressed by opening them in Microsoft Defender Application Guard using Microsoft Edge.
  • Issues regarding remote debugging while using the full suite for developer tools in Microsoft Edge have been addressed.
  • A 5-minute blank screen when connecting via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) session has been fixed.
  • Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) users can now search for items using the search bar in File Explorer.
  • A problem where the device stops responding after using a pen for several hours has been fixed.
  • An issue that resulted in some applications not responding temporarily has been addressed.
  • Problems with the DDE applications not working have been addressed.
  • Issues with the Microsoft Input Method Editor (IME) have been addressed.
  • Problems while signing into accounts using Remote Desktop Services resulting in keyboard layout changes have been fixed.
  • Incorrect display of frequency of CPU for certain processors has been fixed.
  • A performance issue while the Windows PowerShell reads the System Registries has been fixed.
  • An issue that randomly changed the time offset of the time format when running the command exe os get localdatetime/ value has been fixed.
  • The problem with Microsoft Outlook Signatures has been fixed.
  • An issue that prevented Hybrid Azure Active Directory from updating information on the portal when a device’s name or Windows version was changed has been taken care of.
  • An issue with the Smart Cards for Windows services has been addressed.
  • A new Microsoft Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) named “Microsoft antimalware-UacScan” has been added. This will not provide the context of each UAC request in the ETW provider manifest.
  • An incorrect prompt for credentials when using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) that used Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) has been fixed.
  • Recovery Partitions have now been added to the diskpart utility.
  • Support for TLS 1.1 and 1.2 has been added when connecting to SQL Server using Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) data providers.
  • Some issues regarding the SQL Servers and Cluster Shared Volumes (CSVs) have been addressed.
  • An issue with a deadlock in the TCP/IP driver resulting in the Operating System hanging has been addressed.
  • An issue with the Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) not responding to new connections has been fixed.
  • Some applications behaving incorrectly when publishing them as Remote Application Integrated Locally (RAIL) applications using RDS have been fixed.
  • A problem with the RRAS administrator Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to stop responding has been addressed.
  • An issue with starting a Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL2) on ARM64 devices has been fixed. The problem was discovered with the update KB4579311.

How to install Windows 10 20H2 Cumulative Update Preview Build 19042.608

If you are subscribed to the Windows Insider Program Beta or Release Preview channels, you shall automatically receive the new update through Windows Updates. However, if you are anxious to install the update without waiting, here is what you can do.

  1. Navigate to the following location:
    Start Menu -> Settings -> Update & <a href="https://www.itechtics.com/enable-windows-security-updates-over-metered-connections/">Security -> Windows Update</a>
  2. Now click on Check for updates on the right side, and the computer will start scanning for any newly available updates.

  3. When scanned, the download should automatically begin. When downloaded, click on Install Now to begin the installation.

Unfortunately, no standalone installation ISOs are available for Windows 10 20H2 with this build as of yet.

How to Rollback/Uninstall Windows 10 20H2 Cumulative Preview Build

If for some reason you do not wish to use this build of Windows 10 20H2, you can always uninstall this update using the traditional method in the guide provided.
