Hurra for the amazing feedback to the Windows Insider subscribers! Microsoft will be rolling out badges to its users that have helped them get to where they are as part of their celebration on their 7th anniversary.
Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22483 in the Dev channel which brings about some new fixes for the OS. However, Microsoft has also added a few known issues that were reported in the recent flights to the said channel. With this release, they have also announced the rolling out of badges as a goodwill gesture to the users that have given feedback to Microsoft.

However, in Microsoft’s last flight to the Dev Channel (Build 22478), they introduced the concept of Update Stack Packages. It is a tiny update installed prior to the actual build so that the user may have a smooth update experience. However, we noticed that while upgrading to Preview Build 22483, no such package was installed.
Let us now dive in deeper to see what this release brings to the Dev channel.
Claim Your 7th Anniversary Insider Feedback Badge
It’s the Windows Insider Program’s 7th anniversary and Microsoft intends to celebrate it with their users. With the last flight, Microsoft released 2 special desktop backgrounds for the users. With build 22483, Microsoft intends to start rolling out badges to the Insider subscribers that have been providing feedback to Microsoft that assisted them in making their builds better.
Users will be able to see their badges (once issued by Microsoft) in the Feedback Hub app.
Changes, Improvements, and Fixes
Preview Build 22483 also brings about fixes to the operating system. Here is a list of the things that have been improved and fixed by Microsoft:
- You can now refresh the items in the Start menu by right-clicking on either “Recommended” or the “More” button.
- An issue that was causing Search to appear black and not display any content below the search box has been fixed.
- Searching for “display” will now return Display Settings.
- The pop-up error stating “wsl.localhost is unavailable, insufficient resources exist” on ARM64 devices has been mitigated when the users trys to access the Linux entry for WSL in File Explorer’s navigation pane.
- An issue that was causing cellular data to not work on some devices in the recent flights has been fixed.
- An issue with NTFS when the USN journal was enabled, where it was doing extra unnecessary action with each write, impacting the I/O performance, has been addressed.
- Small improvements have been made to keyboard navigation and screen reader usage of Performance Monitor.
- Webview2 processes will be now properly grouped with the application using it in Task Manager’s Processes tab.
- An issue that was causing the Publisher column in Task Manager to not retrieve publisher names has been addressed.
Microsoft intimate’s the users that some of these fixes may make their way to the Windows 11 stable release through servicing updates.
Known issues
Before updating to build 22483, we too suggest that you read this section thoroughly.
- Users updating from Builds 22000.xxx or earlier, to newer Dev Channel builds using the latest Dev Channel ISO image, may receive the following warning message: “The build you are trying to install is Flight Signed. To continue installing, enable flight signing”. If you receive this message, press the Enable button, reboot the PC, and retry the update.
- A reduced screen timeout may occur for some users. Microsoft is researching the effect of shortening screen timeouts and sleep timeouts on energy consumption.
- The Processes tab in the Task Manager may be occasionally blank.
- Some devices throw a bugcheck with SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCPTION when updating. Microsoft suggests that you restart the computer and try reinstalling the update if you come across such a scenario.
- The Xbox Game Pass games are failing to install with error 0x00000001.
- You might be unable to enter text when using Search from the Start Menu or the Taskbar. If you experience the issue, press the Windows Key + R shortcut keys to launch the Run dialog box and then close it. This may temporarily resolve the issue.
- The Taskbar may flicker at times when switching input methods.
- Tooltips may appear in an unexpected location after hovering over the Taskbar corner.
- The Search panel may not open when clicking the Search icon on the Taskbar. Microsoft suggests to restart the “Windows Explorer” process and open the search panel again.
- The volume and brightness sliders aren’t displaying properly in Quick Settings.
How to install Windows 11 Build 22483
To install this update, you already need to be running Windows 11 and subscribed to the Dev channel, or perform a clean install using the downloaded ISO image using the given guide.

Through Windows Update
Here is how to upgrade to Preview Build 22483:
- Navigate to the Settings app and then click Windows Update on the bottom-left. The app will then scan for pending updates. When scanned, you will see “Windows 11 Insider Preview 22483.1000 (rs_prerelease)”. Click the Download Now button.
- The update will then begin to download and install itself. This step can take a few minutes depending upon your internet speed and PC performance. When it installs, click Restart Now.
Once the computer reboots, you can check that it has been updated to build 22483.1000 by typing in winver in Run.
Download Windows 11 Dev Build 22483 ISO Image
You can also download the ISO image for Windows 11 Build 22483, here is how:
- Open the Windows Insider Preview Downloads page and log in with your Microsoft account egistered with the Windows Insider program.
- Once logged in, scroll down and select Windows 11 Insider Preview (Dev Channel) – Build 22483 from the drop-down menu and click Confirm.
- Now select the language you want to download it in and click Confirm.
- Finally, click 64-bit Download to begin downloading the ISO image.
You are now set to perform a fresh installation of Windows 11 Dev Build 22483 using the downloaded ISO image.
Rollback/remove Windows 11 Insider Preview update
If you do not wish to keep the installed preview update for some reason, you can always roll back to the previous build of the OS. However, this can only be performed within the next 10 days after installing the new update.
To roll back after 10 days, you will need to apply this trick.
Cleanup after installing Windows Updates
If you want to save space after installing Windows updates, you can run the following commands one after the other in Command Prompt with administrative privileges:
